Our read on BITC

ETF.net Research

DA trend rule that flips between bitcoin futures and U.S. Treasuries: risk-on when momentum says so, government paper when it doesn't. An unusual build in tactical multi-asset land, where the risk sleeve is almost always stocks.

Stated mandate

The Fund seeks capital appreciation through a rules-based rotation between bitcoin futures and U.S. Treasuries based on market momentum.

Why people hold it

  1. 01The switch is rules-based, not a manager's hunch. Market momentum decides whether the fund sits in bitcoin futures or U.S. Treasuries.
  2. 02A 1940 Act fund, so the exposure arrives in an ordinary brokerage account with no wallet, exchange account, or private keys to look after.
  3. 03The defensive leg is actual U.S. Treasuries, not a synthetic hedge or a short position.
  4. 04Live since 2023, so the rules have run through real bitcoin swings rather than a backtest.

Worth knowing

  1. 01At 1.12% a year it costs more than the typical tactical multi-asset fund, and far more than top-ranked peers like ENDW (0.22%) and ONOF (0.39%).
  2. 02Crypto exposure comes from bitcoin futures, not spot coins, so results follow the futures curve rather than bitcoin's price directly.
  3. 03A small fund that trades thinly, so spreads can matter as much as the fee. It sits in the lower tier of its tactical peer group on our review.
