Our read on DTH
COne of the original international high-dividend ETFs, live since 2006. It rents out a wide bench of developed-market payers outside the US and Canada, and pays shareholders quarterly.
The fund seeks to track the investment results of high-dividend-yielding companies in developed markets outside the United States and Canada.
Why people hold it
- A 2006 original. It has run this same overseas high-yield mandate through multiple market cycles, not a recent launch chasing the income theme.
- Roughly 600 holdings across developed markets outside the US and Canada, so no single payer or country carries the income load.
- Zero US and Canada exposure by design, making it a clean bolt-on beside a domestic dividend sleeve rather than a duplicate.
- It hugs its stated index (WTDHYE) about as tightly as index funds get, and distributions land quarterly.
Worth knowing
- At 0.58%, the fee sits above the cohort median of 0.50%, and the cheap giants undercut it hard: VYMI at 0.07%, SCHW peer SCHY at 0.08%.
- A yield-first screen buys whatever pays most, which can tilt the mix toward a handful of value sectors and countries.
- Mid-sized and moderately traded rather than a flagship, so spreads can be wider than the category's largest names.
