Our read on HAKY

ETF.net Research

DA covered-call overlay pointed at a growth theme instead of a dividend sector. HAKY owns a cybersecurity basket built to mirror Amplify's cybersecurity ETF, then sells calls on it to turn the theme's volatility into monthly cash.

Stated mandate

The Fund seeks to balance high income and capital appreciation through exposure to cybersecurity companies and a covered-call strategy.

Why people hold it

  1. 01The income engine runs on cybersecurity, not utilities or staples: calls are written against a growth-priced basket, where option premiums are typically richer than in defensive sectors.
  2. 02The income policy is spelled out in the fund's own documents: monthly distributions, a stated target of 15% annualized gross option premium, and upfront disclosure that payouts can include return of capital.amplifyetfs.com
  3. 03About 70 cybersecurity companies sit underneath, mirroring Amplify's cybersecurity ETF (HACK), inside a plain 1940 Act fund structure rather than a note or partnership.

Worth knowing

  1. 01At 0.65% a year, the fee runs roughly double the 0.35% charged by State Street's sector premium-income funds (XLVI, XLUI), so the overlay has more ground to make up.
  2. 02Writing calls hands over part of any cybersecurity rally in exchange for premium, and distributions can include return of capital, which hands back your own principal and lowers NAV.
  3. 03Launched in January 2026, it is still a small fund that trades lightly, which tends to mean wider bid-ask spreads. Limit orders earn their keep here.
