Teucrium 2x Daily Wheat ETF

Leveraged · Leveraged & Inverse · Teucrium · Inception 2024-12-12

This fund multiplies its index's move each day and resets that multiple daily. Because daily returns compound, its long-run return can differ from the headline multiple.

Our read on WXET

ETF.net Research

BWheat, doubled. WXET aims for twice the daily move of wheat futures inside a regular brokerage account: no futures broker, no K-1 at tax time. A daily-reset trading tool from the shop that built its name on grains.

Stated mandate

The fund seeks, before fees and expenses, to deliver twice the daily price performance of wheat. It is designed for short-term trading and does not seek to meet its objective over periods longer than one day.

Why people hold it

  1. 01Leverage pointed at a farm commodity, not another tech index. The fund seeks twice the daily price move of wheat futures, a market driven by weather, harvests and geopolitics.teucrium.com
  2. 02A 0.95% expense ratio comes in under the median for leveraged funds, and the exposure arrives in an ordinary brokerage account with no futures account to open.teucrium.com
  3. 03Built as a 1940 Act fund, so tax season brings a Form 1099 instead of the Schedule K-1 that Teucrium's commodity-pool funds such as WEAT and CORN generate.teucrium.com
  4. 04Teucrium has focused on agricultural commodities since 2010; WXET and a corn twin, launched together in December 2024, were its first leveraged funds.prweb.com

Worth knowing

  1. 01A one-day instrument by design. The leverage resets daily, so results over longer stretches can drift well away from 2x the wheat move, especially in choppy markets.teucrium.com
  2. 02Small and thinly traded next to the big leveraged equity funds, so spreads and order size deserve attention before you hit the button.
  3. 03Young fund, live since December 2024, so there is limited history showing how it behaves across a full grain cycle.

WXET Risk

This fund targets a multiple of the daily move of its index and resets daily. Hold it longer than one reset and compounding makes the return diverge from that target. In choppy markets it can lose value even when the index ends flat.

How much the fund’s monthly returns vary, scaled to a year.
43.1%
Annualised · 20 months to Aug 2026
How it’s calculated: standard deviation

The sample standard deviation of monthly total returns, multiplied by the square root of 12.

0.36
vs 3-month T-bills · 20 months to Aug 2026
How it’s calculated: Sharpe ratio

Subtract each month’s Treasury-bill return from the fund’s monthly total return.

Divide the average of those excess returns by their sample standard deviation, then multiply by the square root of 12.

Uses up to 36 complete months, with at least 12 required. Each month uses the Treasury yield quoted at the end of the previous month.

The largest fall from a peak to the low that followed.
