BSJQBInvesco BulletShares 2026 High Yield Corporate Bond ETF

IBHGAiShares iBonds 2027 Term High Yield and Income ETF

In short

BSJQ A junk-bond fund with an end date. It holds high-yield corporate bonds whose effective maturities all land in 2026, so it behaves more like a single bond coming due than a fund that rolls on forever. That convenience carries a 0.43% fee.

IBHG Most target-maturity bond ETFs stick to Treasuries and investment grade. IBHG runs the same ladder-rung playbook in high yield: a basket of dollar-denominated junk and other income bonds all maturing in 2027.

Stated mandate

BSJQ The fund tracks an index representing U.S.-dollar-denominated high-yield corporate bonds whose effective maturities are in 2026.

IBHG The fund seeks to track an index of U.S.-dollar-denominated, high-yield and other income-generating corporate bonds maturing in 2027.

Why people hold it

  • BSJQ Defined maturity is the whole point: every holding targets a 2026 effective maturity, so the basket winds toward a known date instead of rolling exposure indefinitely.
  • Most target-maturity bond ETFs hold investment-grade or Treasury paper. This one takes the high-yield route, a corner of the shelf far fewer competitors fill.
  • Income arrives monthly, and the fund has been trading since 2018 with steady volume for its size.
  • IBHG A rare rung: it tracks the Bloomberg 2027 Term High Yield and Income Index, so you get a dated high yield slice instead of a bond fund that rolls its maturities forever.
  • The 2027 end date sits in the mandate itself, which is what makes ladder-building possible: stack terms, know when each rung comes due.
  • Income lands monthly, and credit risk is spread across roughly 90 bonds rather than a handful of names.

Worth knowing

  • BSJQ The 0.43% expense ratio is the toll. Invesco's own investment-grade BulletShares, BSCT and BSCU, charge 0.10% for the same maturity-date plumbing.
  • The basket is thin for a bond fund, so one issuer's trouble carries more weight here than in a broad high-yield portfolio.
  • High yield means below-investment-grade borrowers. A maturity date sets when bonds are scheduled to come due, not whether every issuer pays.
  • IBHG It charges 0.35% a year against a target-maturity cohort that typically runs near 0.10%. High yield credit work costs more than buying Treasuries.
  • High yield means issuer default and downgrade risk, a different animal from the Treasury and investment-grade rungs of the same shelf (IBTJ, IBDU).
  • The clock cuts both ways. As 2027 approaches the portfolio shortens and the fund is built to wind down, not to keep running.
