Our read on each fund
CBOND
LEMBA
In short
CBON The first US-listed ETF to open China's onshore bond market to American buyers, back in 2014. One country, one currency, a few dozen RMB bonds from government, policy-bank and credit issuers.
LEMB Most emerging-markets funds buy stocks. LEMB buys government bonds priced in pesos, rand and rupiah, so the ride comes from local interest rates and the currency, not the dollar. iShares has run this unhedged EM debt sleeve since 2011.
Stated mandate
CBON The fund seeks to replicate the price and yield performance of the FTSE Chinese Broad Bond 0–10 Diversified Select Index before fees and expenses. The index covers fixed-rate, RMB-denominated bonds issued in China by credit, governmental, and quasi-governmental issuers.
LEMB The fund seeks to track an index of sovereign bonds issued by emerging-market countries in their local currencies.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
