IDHQBInvesco S&P International Developed Quality ETF

IQLTBiShares MSCI Intl Quality Factor ETF

In short

IDHQ One of the longest-running international quality funds: since 2007 it has held the developed ex-US names scoring highest on return on equity, accruals and leverage, for a fee below the typical international-factor rate.

IQLT Quality investing abroad, with the sector bets stripped out. IQLT holds developed-market companies picked for high return on equity, stable earnings and low debt, while keeping sector weights close to the broad market.

Stated mandate

IDHQ The Fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the investment results of the S&P Quality Developed ex-U.S. LargeMidCap Index. It uses an index-based strategy focused on international developed-market equities selected for quality.

IQLT The fund seeks to track an index of international developed-market stocks selected for high return on equity, stable earnings, and low debt.

Why people hold it

  • IDHQ Quality is defined, not vibes: return on equity, accruals ratio and financial leverage ratio, applied to the top slice of the developed ex-US large- and mid-cap universe.spglobal.cominvesco.com
  • 0.29% a year runs below the typical fee in its international-factor group, and the fund has tracked its index closely.
  • Running since 2007, with a live record through the financial crisis and everything since. The screen refreshes on a set schedule each June and December.invesco.com
  • Country, sector and single-stock caps keep the quality screen from turning the portfolio into one concentrated country or sector bet.spglobal.comprnewswire.com
  • IQLT The screen is refreshingly plain: high return on equity, stable earnings, low debt, spread across roughly 300 developed-market companies outside the US.ishares.com
  • Sector neutral by design. The quality tilt shows up in which companies it owns, not as a quiet overweight to whatever sector screens well that year.ishares.com
  • 0.30% a year, below the typical international factor fund, and it has been running since 2015.
  • A multi-billion-dollar, actively traded fund, which puts it among the more established ways to own the quality factor overseas.

Worth knowing

  • IDHQ Roughly 200 stocks from a much wider developed ex-US universe, so its country and sector mix can sit far from the standard international benchmark.spglobal.com
  • Cohort peers EFAV and ACWV target minimum volatility. This one screens for quality only and makes no attempt to damp market swings.
  • A mid-size, moderately traded fund rather than a giant of the category, so order size and spreads matter more than with the biggest names.
  • IQLT Developed markets outside the US only. No American stocks, no emerging markets, so it fills one slot rather than covering the whole map.
  • A quality screen narrows the field to profitable, low-debt names, so results can diverge from the broad international market in either direction.
  • Cheaper factor options sit in the same aisle (QLVD, EFAV, ACWV), though each runs a different screen rather than sector-neutral quality.

IDHQ vs IQLT Holdings

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
