PSCTBInvesco S&P SmallCap Information Technology ETF

RSPTBInvesco S&P 500 Equal Weight Technology ETF

In short

PSCT Tech exposure without the mega-cap giants. PSCT owns roughly 70 small US technology companies drawn from the S&P SmallCap 600, an index that only admits companies with real earnings behind them.

RSPT Tech without the megacap gravity. RSPT hands each of the S&P 500's roughly 80 technology names the same slice and resets every quarter, so the sector's giants carry no more weight than its smaller names.

Stated mandate

PSCT The fund uses an index designed to measure the performance of US information technology companies.

RSPT The Fund is designed to follow the S&P 500 Equal Weight Information Technology Index, investing at least 90% of assets in index securities. The index equally weights information technology stocks from the S&P 500 and rebalances quarterly.

Why people hold it

  • PSCT At 0.29% a year it undercuts the typical fund in its tech peer group, and it has run the same small-cap playbook since 2010.
  • Its S&P SmallCap 600 universe requires positive earnings in the latest quarter and across the last four combined, screening out the cash-burning end of small-cap tech.wikipedia.orgspglobal.com
  • The index is capped, so no single name balloons into an outsized weight, and the fund rebalances and reconstitutes quarterly as companies grow in or out of small-cap.invesco.com
  • Sits in the upper half of its technology peer group, and it sticks closely to the index it names in its own documents.
  • RSPT Equal weight by design: about 80 S&P 500 tech stocks, one identical slice each, rebalanced quarterly. No single giant steers the fund.invesco.com
  • Running since 2006 and it hews closely to its index. A multi-billion-dollar fund that trades actively, so getting in and out is rarely the hard part.
  • One of the stronger implementations in a crowded broad-tech aisle, with a plain index mandate and quarterly distributions.

Worth knowing

  • PSCT Trading is thin next to giants like VGT and XLK, so bid-ask spreads can run wider, especially in fast markets.
  • One sector, one size band: about 70 small US tech names swing harder than a broad-market or mega-cap tech fund.
  • Distributions arrive once or twice a year, not monthly. The mandate is sector growth, not income.
  • RSPT 0.40% a year lands mid-pack for tech sector funds but well above cap-weighted majors like VGT (0.09%), XLK (0.08%) and FTEC (0.08%).
  • Equal weighting leans on the sector's smaller members and the quarterly reset trims what ran up. Expect it to move to a different beat than cap-weighted tech.
  • Still a single-sector fund: everything inside is S&P 500 information technology, with the concentration that implies.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
