Our read on PSCT
BTech exposure without the mega-cap giants. PSCT owns roughly 70 small US technology companies drawn from the S&P SmallCap 600, an index that only admits companies with real earnings behind them.
The fund uses an index designed to measure the performance of US information technology companies.
Why people hold it
- At 0.29% a year it undercuts the typical fund in its tech peer group, and it has run the same small-cap playbook since 2010.
- Its S&P SmallCap 600 universe requires positive earnings in the latest quarter and across the last four combined, screening out the cash-burning end of small-cap tech.en.wikipedia.orgspglobal.com
- The index is capped, so no single name balloons into an outsized weight, and the fund rebalances and reconstitutes quarterly as companies grow in or out of small-cap.invesco.com
- Sits in the upper half of its technology peer group, and it sticks closely to the index it names in its own documents.
Worth knowing
- Trading is thin next to giants like VGT and XLK, so bid-ask spreads can run wider, especially in fast markets.
- One sector, one size band: about 70 small US tech names swing harder than a broad-market or mega-cap tech fund.
- Distributions arrive once or twice a year, not monthly. The mandate is sector growth, not income.
