QYLDAGlobal X Nasdaq 100 Covered Call ETF

TDAQBTappAlpha Innovation 100 Growth & Daily Income ETF

In short

QYLD Running since 2013, QYLD is the no-frills version of the Nasdaq-100 income trade: own the index, sell calls against it, pay out monthly. No stock picking, no manager discretion, just a rules-based buy-write index followed closely.

TDAQ TDAQ resets daily: it holds the Nasdaq-100 through an index ETF and sells out-of-the-money calls that generally expire the same day, turning part of the index's upside into monthly income.

Stated mandate

QYLD QYLD seeks, before fees and expenses, to generally match the price and yield performance of the Cboe NASDAQ-100® BuyWrite V2 Index. It uses a buy-write strategy that holds NASDAQ-100 stocks and sells corresponding call options.

TDAQ The actively managed ETF seeks current income and capital appreciation through a long QQQ position combined with short call options. It sells out-of-the-money calls each day, generally with zero days to expiration.

Why people hold it

  • QYLD Simple machine: holds Nasdaq-100 stocks, sells the matching calls, and tracks the Cboe NASDAQ-100 BuyWrite V2 Index closely. Nothing to second-guess.
  • Income arrives monthly, and the 0.60% fee sits under the median for Nasdaq-100 options-income funds.
  • A multi-billion-dollar fund that trades very actively, so getting in and out is rarely the hard part.
  • TDAQ Each short call generally expires the same day, so the cap resets every morning; the prospectus says daily options track the underlying more closely than longer-dated overwrites.sec.gov
  • Premium comes in every session and goes out monthly. Strikes are set by an active manager each day rather than locked into one monthly expiry.
  • Does what it says on the tin: long Nasdaq-100 exposure plus daily out-of-the-money calls, and it sits in the upper half of its Nasdaq-100 income peer group.

Worth knowing

  • QYLD Writing calls sells the upside. When the Nasdaq-100 runs past the strike, that gain goes to the option buyer, not the fund.
  • Leaner options on the same index: QQA at 0.33%, GPIQ and JEPQ at 0.35%.
  • Payouts are funded by option premium and no target rate is declared, so the monthly check varies with volatility.
  • TDAQ At 0.68% with no waiver, the fee sits near the category median; cheaper builds exist, like GPIQ at 0.29% net of a waiver through April 30, 2027, and JEPQ at 0.35%.
  • Selling calls hands over gains above the strike. Daily resets shorten how long that cap binds, but the income still comes out of upside.sec.gov
  • A September 2025 launch means a short track record, and premiums (so the monthly payout) rise and fall with volatility on a concentrated, tech-heavy index.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
