Our read on each fund
VCSHA
ZTWO—
In short
VCSH Corporate credit, kept short. VCSH tracks an index of investment-grade company bonds maturing in one to five years, at three basis points: you take company credit risk instead of government risk, with muted sensitivity to rate moves.
ZTWO Most funds in the target-maturity aisle have an expiration date. ZTWO doesn't: it keeps rolling, always holding investment-grade corporate bonds 1.5 to under 2.5 years from maturity, so the two-year rung never empties.
Stated mandate
VCSH The fund seeks to follow a market-weighted corporate bond index with a short-term dollar-weighted average maturity, using index sampling and investing at least 80% of assets in index bonds.
ZTWO The fund is passively managed and seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the ICE 2-Year US Target Maturity Corporate Index. It normally invests at least 80% of net assets in investment-grade corporate bonds with 1.5 to less than 2.5 years remaining to maturity.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
