XBOCCInnovator U.S. Equity Accelerated 9 Buffer ETF

XTJLCInnovator U.S. Equity Accelerated Plus ETF - July

In short

XBOC Double the S&P 500's upside to a preset cap, with the first 9% of a drop absorbed and ordinary exposure after that. XBOC runs that bargain on an October-to-September clock and resets for a new one every year.

XTJL The no-airbag option in the defined-outcome world: triple the rise of an S&P 500 ETF up to a preset cap, one-for-one on the way down, measured point to point over a July-to-June year rather than reset daily.

Stated mandate

XBOC The Fund seeks to deliver twice the increase of its Underlying ETF during the Outcome Period, subject to an upside return cap.

XTJL The Fund seeks three times the increase of an ETF tracking the S&P 500 Index, subject to a 17.10% upside cap before fees, while approximately matching losses during the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 outcome period. It does not provide a downside buffer.

Why people hold it

  • XBOC The deal is spelled out before you buy: 2x the underlying S&P 500 ETF's upside to a cap, roughly 1x on the way down after the first 9% of losses is absorbed.cboe.com
  • Outcome periods run October through September and reset automatically, so the position can be held indefinitely instead of rebought each year.innovatoretfs.comsec.gov
  • 0.79% expense ratio, the same sticker as its Innovator accelerated-buffer siblings (XBAP, XBJA, XBJL). No fee premium for picking the October start date.
  • XTJL The 3x upside is measured point to point across the one-year outcome period, not reset daily, so a choppy path in between doesn't compound against the payoff.innovatoretfs.com
  • That leverage is built from FLEX options on an S&P 500 ETF inside a fund wrapper: no margin account, no borrowing, no bank issuer standing behind the payoff.innovatoretfs.cominnovatoretfs.com 2
  • At 0.79%, the fee sits right at the median of Innovator's accelerated series. The amped-up version costs the same as the buffered ones.
  • Cap and outcome period re-strike every July 1 at then-current option prices, so the terms refresh each year instead of being frozen at launch in 2021.innovatoretfs.com

Worth knowing

  • XBOC The advertised outcomes assume you own it from the first day of the outcome period to the last. Buy midstream and your own cap and remaining buffer differ from the headline.sec.gov
  • Built on the underlying ETF's price return, so S&P 500 dividends do not flow through to shareholders.sec.gov
  • Thinly traded compared with mainstream index funds, which can mean wider bid-ask spreads at the moment you trade.
  • XTJL No buffer here. Declines in the underlying S&P 500 ETF pass through roughly one-for-one while gains stop at the cap, an asymmetry that cuts against you in a down year.innovatoretfs.com
  • The stated 3x and cap describe a full July-to-June hold. Buy mid-period and your effective acceleration and remaining upside differ from the headline terms.innovatoretfs.com
  • Exposure follows the underlying ETF's share price, so index dividends sit outside the payoff, and this is one of the smaller, thinly traded names in the lineup.innovatoretfs.com
