Our read on each fund
AUMIB
GDMNC
In short
AUMI Gold miners with the blends stripped out. AUMI tracks an index of roughly 30 large miners that must earn at least 90% of revenue from gold, and it charges less than the typical fund in its group.
GDMN Gold or the miners? GDMN declines to choose. For every $100 it aims to hold roughly $90 of global gold miners plus gold futures worth about $90 more in notional terms, stacking two gold trades into one ticker.
Stated mandate
AUMI The Fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, an index of companies active in the gold mining industry. It uses a passive/indexing approach to pursue that objective.
GDMN The Fund seeks total return by investing in U.S.-listed gold futures contracts and global equity securities of companies deriving at least 50% of their revenue from gold mining. Gold futures are used to enhance capital efficiency.
