EIPXCFT Energy Income Partners Strategy ETF

PSRAInvesco Active U.S. Real Estate ETF

In short

EIPX First Trust hands the wheel to Energy Income Partners: an actively run, global energy book of roughly 80 names chasing risk-adjusted total return, not an index snapshot of whoever pumps the most barrels.

PSR Active REIT stock-picking without the active price tag: since 2008, PSR has run a tight book of about 30 US property names for 0.35% a year, roughly half the median fee among active US equity ETFs.

Stated mandate

EIPX The Fund seeks risk-adjusted total return.

PSR The Fund seeks high total return through capital appreciation and current income, investing principally in equity real estate investment trusts.

Why people hold it

  • EIPX Actively managed rather than index-tracking, with a stated goal of risk-adjusted total return. A manager picks the energy names, and can pass on the ones it doesn't like.
  • Roughly 80 holdings. Concentrated enough that the manager's calls actually show up, broad enough that no single pipeline or utility runs the show.
  • The mandate is global, so the portfolio isn't fenced into US energy names the way many sector funds are.
  • Pays on a quarterly cadence and has built a mid-sized asset base since its 2022 launch, which is real staying power for a niche sector fund.
  • PSR 0.35% a year against a 0.65% median for active US equity ETFs. Active management without the usual active-management markup.
  • Running since 2008, across multiple rate regimes and property cycles, and it sits in the upper half of its active US equity peer group.
  • Concentrated by design: about 30 equity REITs, so each holding carries real weight instead of being diluted across the entire property market.invesco.com
  • The mandate targets capital appreciation plus current income from equity REITs, and the fund distributes quarterly.invesco.com

Worth knowing

  • EIPX 0.95% a year is specialist-active pricing, meaningfully above the typical active US equity ETF. You're paying for the stock picking, so it has to earn its keep.
  • It trades lightly compared with its peer group, so entry and exit costs deserve more attention than with a mega-cap fund.
  • This is one sector, start to finish. Energy moves on commodity cycles and policy, and the whole portfolio rides that wave together.
  • PSR Thinly traded. Spreads can widen and larger orders can move the price more than they would in a heavily traded index fund.
  • One sector, one economy: US property. When rates jolt REITs, the portfolio has no other sector to lean on.
  • Assets stay modest next to the giant index REIT funds, and smaller ETFs generally face a higher bar to stay open over the long haul.

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
