Our read on each fund
RINGB
SILJC
In short
RING The low-fee way to own the gold diggers. RING holds roughly 40 gold mining companies worldwide for 0.39% a year, undercutting most funds in its niche, and it has been running that playbook since 2012.
SILJ The original junior-silver play. Since 2012 SILJ has done one job: passively track an index of roughly 70 small silver miners, producers and explorers, the high-octane end of a niche most metals funds cover with gold.
Stated mandate
RING The Fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the Solactive Global Gold Explorers & Developers Total Return Index. It invests at least 80% of total assets in securities of companies economically tied to gold exploration.
SILJ The Fund is a passively managed ETF seeking results that generally correspond, before fees and expenses, to an index focused on companies engaged in silver mining.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
