BFIXCBuild Bond Innovation ETF

BLUICBluemonte Diversified Income ETF

In short

BFIX Bonds with a stock-market kicker. BFIX pairs an actively managed investment-grade bond portfolio with S&P 500 call options, chasing capital appreciation and risk mitigation in one wrapper. Distributions land monthly.

BLUI One ticker, one job: Bluemonte's team picks other income ETFs (junk bonds, bank loans, mortgages, REITs, preferreds) and decides the mix. Actively managed since its 2025 launch, with income paid out monthly.

Stated mandate

BFIX The Fund seeks capital appreciation and risk mitigation through an actively managed portfolio combining investment-grade bonds and S&P 500 Index call options.

BLUI The Fund seeks total return and income and is actively managed. Under normal circumstances, it invests at least 80% of its assets in income-generating investments.

Why people hold it

  • BFIX The structure is the whole idea: bonds carry the portfolio, S&P 500 call options carry the equity exposure. Upside participation comes from option premium, not from owning the stocks.
  • At 0.45% it sits exactly at the median for conservative multi-asset funds, and roughly a third the cost of high-fee cohort rivals XRLX and MFUL.
  • Actively run rather than index-tracking, so the bond sleeve and the option sleeve can be reshaped as rates and volatility shift.
  • Trading since February 2022, so there is real-money history behind the bonds-plus-calls design instead of a backtest.
  • BLUI Go-anywhere income mandate: at least 80% of assets in income generators, with the underlying funds free to hold any maturity, any credit quality, plus income-producing equities.sec.gov
  • A fund of ETFs, so one trade buys a spread of bond and equity-income sleeves instead of a dozen line items you rebalance yourself.sec.gov
  • Pays income monthly, and the manager can reshape the blend between debt and dividend payers rather than following a fixed index recipe.sec.gov

Worth knowing

  • BFIX A small, thinly traded fund. Spreads can run wider and big orders are harder to work than in the category's largest names.
  • Call options expire. When the S&P 500 stays flat, the premium spent on the upside sleeve is a cost the bond side has to absorb.
  • Inside its conservative multi-asset cohort it lands in the bottom quartile overall, where plainer, cheaper blends such as CGMS and BLUI rate more strongly.
  • BLUI Costs 0.67% net of a waiver through August 31, 2027, versus 0.72% gross. That sits above the median of the eight funds in its conservative income group.
  • Fund-of-funds math: the stated expenses carry the fees of the ETFs it owns on top of the manager's fee. Multi-sector rivals CGMS and MULT charge 0.39% in one layer.sec.gov
  • Launched June 2025 and thinly traded, so there is a short record to judge and spreads can widen. High yield and loan exposure brings credit risk.sec.gov
