FELGAFidelity Enhanced Large Cap Growth ETF

GSGOBGoldman Sachs Growth Opportunities ETF

In short

FELG Active stock-picking on an index-fund budget. FELG charges 0.18% to tilt around the Russell 1000 Growth Index rather than copy it, running a strategy whose track record dates to 2007.

GSGO A 1999-vintage Goldman stock-picking strategy that shed its mutual fund skin in late 2025 and relisted as a cheaper ETF. Concentrated bets on companies its managers judge to have durable franchises and above-average growth ahead.

Stated mandate

FELG The fund seeks capital appreciation and normally invests at least 80% of its assets in common stocks included in the Russell 1000® Growth Index.

GSGO The fund seeks long-term capital growth by investing in companies that its adviser believes are positioned for above-average long-term growth.

Why people hold it

  • FELG 0.18% a year, roughly a third of the typical fee among active US growth-conviction funds.
  • Not a moonshot: at least 80% of assets sit in Russell 1000 Growth constituents across about 110 stocks, so the manager's bets are tilts around a familiar benchmark.fidelity.com
  • One of the strongest implementations in its peer group, and cheaper than most of the other top-graded names there (GUSE and MAGS at 0.30%, LRGC at 0.39%).
  • A multi-billion-dollar fund from Fidelity with steady on-screen liquidity, and it pays quarterly.
  • GSGO 0.45% for genuine active management, below the 0.54% typical of its peer group, and Goldman lowered the fee when the fund converted into an ETF.gs.com
  • The strategy dates back to 1999, so the managers were running this book long before it moved into an ETF wrapper in December 2025.gs.com
  • A stock picker's mandate, not a benchmark hug: Goldman selects on business franchise strength, long-term prospects and management quality, aiming at above-average long-term growth.gs.com
  • Sits in the upper tier of a crowded active US growth cohort on our review, with the portfolio itself and the fund's staying power its firmest ground.

Worth knowing

  • FELG Concentrated by design: roughly 110 large-cap growth names, so the megacap tech leaders at the top of the Russell 1000 Growth Index drive the ride both ways.
  • Active means the portfolio deviates from the index on purpose, so results can land on either side of it.
  • Not the cheapest seat in the cohort: JUSA runs 0.12%, though its mandate is broad large-cap rather than the growth slice.
  • GSGO Young in ETF form, small, and thinly traded, so spreads can run wider than on a mega-fund and sizeable orders deserve care.
  • Growth mandate, no income job: it has not been making payouts, so shareholder return rides entirely on share price.
  • Cheaper ways to buy the same large-cap growth job exist in the cohort, notably JUSA at 0.12% and FELG at 0.18%, both enhanced-index builds.
