GAMRCAmplify Video Game Leaders ETF

GGMECInvesco Next Gen Media and Gaming ETF

In short

GAMR Not just the studios. GAMR runs across the whole video game chain, from publishers and mobile titles to GPUs, headsets and controllers, listed anywhere in the world, and has been doing it since 2016.

GGME The wide-angle lens in the gaming aisle: GGME's index chases "future media" broadly, so streaming and platform names sit beside game makers across roughly 100 global stocks. Fee is 0.63% net of a waiver through August 31, 2028.

Stated mandate

GAMR Seeks returns that generally track the VettaFi Video Game Leaders Index before fees and expenses. It provides exposure to global companies across the video-game value chain, including development, publishing, mobile and online games, GPUs, software, hardware, peripherals, and the metaverse.

GGME The fund tracks the STOXX World AC NexGen Media Index and normally invests at least 90% of assets in common stocks comprising that index. The index focuses on companies exposed to technologies or products contributing to future media.

Why people hold it

  • GAMR Whole value chain in one ticker: development, publishing, mobile and online games, GPUs, software, hardware, peripherals and the metaverse.amplifyetfs.com
  • Global by mandate, so game makers listed outside the US are in scope rather than an afterthought.amplifyetfs.com
  • Rules-based: it tracks the VettaFi Video Game Leaders Index, so the lineup follows a published methodology instead of a manager's hunch.amplifyetfs.com
  • Trading since March 2016, so its record spans more than one gaming cycle.
  • GGME Tracks the STOXX World AC NexGen Media Index with at least 90% of assets in index stocks, a mandate built around future media rather than game publishers alone.
  • Spreads the theme across roughly 100 global stocks, any market cap, so the thesis does not hinge on one studio's release calendar.stoxx.com
  • Fund and index rebalance quarterly, on the second Friday of March, June, September and December, so the basket keeps pace as media shifts.bloomberg.com
  • Listed in 2005 and later retooled (new ticker included) into its current next gen media and gaming mandate, giving it more live market history than most thematic shelves.bloomberg.com

Worth knowing

  • GAMR 0.59% a year, above the gaming-ETF median and above HERO at 0.50% and ESPO at 0.55%.
  • A small fund that trades thinly, so limit orders and a glance at the spread carry more weight here than with the category's larger names.
  • One theme, and a hit-driven one: publishers, chip designers and hardware makers can swing together. Cash comes back once or twice a year at most, not monthly.
  • GGME At 0.63% net of a waiver through August 31, 2028, it sits above the category median and above unwaived peers ESPO (0.55%) and HERO (0.50%).
  • A small fund that trades lightly, so spreads can widen and large orders may need patience.
  • The broad definition cuts both ways: mega-cap media and platform names are eligible, so it overlaps other tech holdings more than a pure gaming basket would.stoxx.com

How we measure overlap

Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
