GARYCMango Growth ETF

GUSEAGoldman Sachs Enhanced U.S. Equity ETF

In short

GARY Mango skips the enhanced-index playbook most peers run: quant screens plus fundamental research, hunting secular and thematic growers with strong earnings power. Launched in 2025 and priced like the active fund it is.

GUSE Goldman's fundamental stock pickers hunting long-term growth in US companies, for 0.30% a year. The strategy dates to 2008 and charges well under the typical active US growth fund.

Stated mandate

GARY The Fund seeks long-term capital appreciation through active investment primarily in common stocks of companies with high growth characteristics. Its process combines quantitative analysis with fundamental research and generally emphasizes large-capitalization companies, while allowing investments across company sizes.

GUSE The Fund seeks long-term growth of capital by investing in companies that the Investment Adviser believes are positioned for long-term growth.

Why people hold it

  • GARY Actively run rather than index-shadowed: a quant screen narrows the field, then fundamental research picks the secular and thematic names with strong earnings power.
  • Plain 1940 Act ETF wrapper. Ordinary brokerage access, 1099 tax reporting, no K-1 at year end.
  • The portfolio is the strongest part of the story, built and spread better than most of its growth-conviction peer group.
  • The mandate is stated plainly: US growth equity, no hidden style drift into value or income to decode.
  • GUSE Charges 0.30% a year, against a 0.54% median for its active US growth cohort. Cheap, for stock picking.
  • Actively run with no index to shadow. Managers hold companies they judge positioned for long-term growth, so the portfolio can look different from a large-cap benchmark.
  • Inception dates to 2008, so the strategy has run through multiple market cycles, not one long rally.
  • One of the stronger implementations in a crowded field of active US growth funds.

Worth knowing

  • GARY The fee is 0.77% a year, above the typical charge in this peer group and several times what enhanced-index growth funds like JUSA and FELG carry.
  • Launched in December 2025, so the quant-plus-fundamental process has a short public record and little data on how it handles a real drawdown.
  • Trades lightly next to category heavyweights, so spreads can widen. Limit orders and mid-session trading matter more here than with a mega-fund.
  • GUSE Trades thinly next to the category's heavyweights. Spreads can be wider, which bites most on large or hurried orders.
  • Two peers in the same top tier undercut it on fee: JUSA at 0.12% and FELG at 0.18%. Price is not where this one stands out.
  • Distributions land once or twice a year, not monthly. Growth of capital is the stated goal, not an income stream.
