Our read on each fund
IGVC
XLKA
In short
IGV IGV skips the chip fabs and the hardware and buys the code: about 110 North American software names, plus video games and interactive media. A software-only slice of tech that has been trading since 2001.
XLK A 1998 original: XLK owns the technology slice of the S&P 500, about 70 names, for eight basis points. Big, heavily traded, and top-heavy by design, with quarterly caps the only brake on the giants at the top.
Stated mandate
IGV The Fund seeks to track an index of North American software equities and selected North American equities from interactive home entertainment and interactive media and services industries.
XLK The fund seeks to track the price and yield performance of the Technology Select Sector Index before expenses.
