Our read on each fund
WOODD
XMEB
In short
WOOD Wood is a commodity you can only really own through companies: timberland REITs, Brazilian pulp, Nordic paper, packaging. WOOD packs roughly 25 of them into one ticker and has been doing it since 2008.
XME Not the chemicals-heavy materials fund. XME holds roughly 40 miners and steelmakers on a modified equal weight, so a small copper name carries about the weight of a giant. Ore, coal and metal, since 2006.
Stated mandate
WOOD WOOD is designed to follow an index of worldwide stocks involved in or connected with timber and forestry, giving investors targeted exposure to forest products, packaging, and paper businesses.
XME The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the total return performance of the S&P Metals and Mining Select Industry Index.
