Our read on each fund
RTHB
VCRB
In short
RTH Retail, undiluted. RTH owns roughly 25 of the largest, most liquid US-listed retailers, each required to earn at least half its revenue from selling goods. No car makers or burger chains riding along under the consumer label.
VCR Consumer discretionary, the whole aisle. VCR tracks roughly 300 US retailers, carmakers, restaurants and travel names across large, mid and small caps for 0.09% a year, instead of stopping at the S&P 500's handful of giants.
Stated mandate
RTH The fund seeks to track, before fees and expenses, the price and yield performance of the MVIS US Listed Retail 25 Index through a passive indexing approach.
VCR The fund passively tracks an index representing U.S. consumer discretionary stocks, seeking to approximate the index through full replication when possible and sampling when required.

How we measure overlap
Each holding counts at its smaller weight in the two funds, summed over the full Holdings. Sector, country and asset class use the same rule on each fund’s split. Cash, FX and derivative lines stay out of the counts. Two bond funds get no overlap figure.
